Public catalogue information

A reader-facing record can identify the official title, author, collection, volume or sequence, edition date, description, related works, and where an approved edition is available.

A record is not the manuscript.

A catalogue entry describes a work. A website summary explains selected content. A reading edition presents the work itself. These are different resources, and each should be labeled accordingly.

Status has several meanings.

Manuscript and edition state
Whether a text is drafted, reviewed, final, revised, or superseded.
Publication state
Whether an edition has actually been released to readers.
Copyright state
Whether a deposit is prepared, an application submitted, or registration confirmed. These should not be inferred from a filename.

Registry relationships

The Atlas Foundational Registry A–H, Master Registry Sourcebook B–Z, collection-specific registries such as Messiah Registry C, and administrative archive identifiers serve different functions. This public guide explains the distinction while the working records remain in their stewardship context.
